3 Tools You Can Start Using Today to Feel More Grounded
Life can feel like it’s going to shit sometimes, and when that happens, it can be hard to gather yourself up and get through the day. But you don’t need to make huge moves to feel more grounded. Here are three spiritual tools that I personally love and that you can start using today to help you reconnect and settle your energy.
1. Mindful Breathing
Breathing—so simple, yet most of us don’t pay attention to it at all. When we focus on deep, mindful breathing, it calms the nervous system and pulls us right back into the present moment.
Try the 4:4:4 exercise! Find a quiet spot, sit comfortably, and take a slow inhale for four counts, hold for four, and exhale for four. Do that for a few minutes, and I promise you’ll feel a little more centered. It’s one of the easiest ways to chill out when life’s throwing you curveballs.
2. Grounding Meditation
I know what you are thinking- meditation is hard. It’s hard to sit still. It’s hard to focus. What does it even mean to quiet your thoughts? You don’t have to be perfect at it and it might take some practice. Grounding meditation is a great way to reconnect with yourself and the earth, especially when you’re feeling scattered.
Picture yourself as a tree, with roots growing deep into the ground. Sounds kind of strange, I know, but it works. Those roots represent stability, support, and a connection to something bigger than whatever chaos is going on.
Close your eyes, imagine those roots growing deeper with every breath, and just let yourself be there for a few minutes. This is something I do regularly, and it’s perfect when you need to hit pause and realign.

3. Daily Gratitude Practice
Gratitude gets thrown around a lot, but here’s the deal—it’s one of the most effective ways to ground yourself. When you focus on what’s going right, you naturally shift away from the chaos and find more balance.
Every day, write down three things you’re grateful for. They don’t need to be huge. It could be that cup of coffee you had this morning or the fact that your coffee prevents you from being constipated (hah!). Focusing on the little things helps ground you in the present, no matter how messy life feels.
These three tools—mindful breathing, grounding meditation, and daily gratitude—are simple things you can start doing today to feel more connected and steady. But hey, I know sometimes life is more complicated than a few deep breaths or writing down your thoughts. That’s where spiritual counseling can really make a difference.
I offer a 1:1 services to help you get to the root of what’s going on, reconnect with yourself, and make changes. It’s not about quick fixes; it’s about finding the tools that work for you and feeling more grounded in all aspects of your life.
And if none of this works? Honestly, pack your bags and head for the mountains. But maybe give me a call first—there’s a good chance we can work through whatever’s making you want to run away.
